New single: "The Quiet Shutdown"

Hey folks,

As the subject line already states: we've got a new single out!!

"The Quiet Shutdown" will be the 3rd single of our new album "III" and ofcourse we hope you and the world will embrace it as warm-heartedly as you did with the successfull "It's Allright".
"The Quiet Shutdown" went in rotation on Studio Brussel this week, so now's the time to get it played even more by voting it into De Afrekening!

A brand new video for the song is coming up real soon, you'll be the first to view it when it's finished.

To promote the new single, we'll be at Peter Van de Veire's "Peter Live" this Friday, so check it out at 20:40, and next Tuesday, the 28th, we'll be redecorating someone's clubhouse in Studio Brussel's new show "De Bouwers", while also playing some acoustic songs.

International NAILPIN news

Hey duuuudes,

Aaaaah yes, we've got some international NAILPIN news for you all, as we recently signed a deal for the GAS countries (Germany, Austria and Switzerland that is). If everything goes according to plan, we'll be touring in those countries next year, yihaa!

And we've made some more friends: New York radio station HCQ's DJ Cristiana Nyx has been spinning some NAILPIN tracks the past weeks, so a big shout-out to her as well for the support and spreading the word!

If you want to help spreading the word in the Benelux, please do so by voting us into the Essential Rock Top 100 on TMF and Donna's Top 5000 (we're somewhere in the list with They Don't Know and you can win 10 filmtickets by voting!), that would be awesome, thank you!!

International Kortfilmfestival Leuven

After winning the TMF Award for 'Best Video', "The Ending" has now been nominated for the upcoming International Kortfilmfestival Leuven!

"The Ending" will compete against 17 other music videos in the category 'Videoclipcompetitie'. The festival takes place at Kunstencentrum STUK, Leuven, November 29th 'till December 6th.

In the meantime, please don't forget to vote for "The Quiet Shutdown" in this week's De Afrekening. Thanks a lot!!

After taking some months off earlier this year, NAILPIN is back in full force!

A Glimpse Is By Definition Impermanent

It's been a while since you heard from us through this MySpace-newsletter-blog-internet thing, so it's not more than fair to give you all another update.. a very important one by the way.

Ever since we formed this band 8 years ago, we've been having tons of fun writing songs, travelling the world playing shows, meeting numerous cool people, releasing a dozen of videos, recording 3 CD's, just.. having the times of our lives.

As lucky as we were and are, to be able to experience all of this - just a bunch of friends from the Waasland area - it was also a lot of hard work.

Hard work that saw us grow as people and musicians, while having you growing and evolving with us as we went.
Hard work that sometimes kept us from our families when they needed us, hard work that sometimes cost us our relationships, hard work that can start weighing on a person after a couple of years.

All this made us decide, as a band, to take a break, so all of us can spend some time with our families (Todts just welcomed his first daughter in September, congratulations man!!) and focus on other things: bands (Shaun and Dave's “As You Like It” for example) and various other (solo/songwriting/whatever) projects.

We're not sure how long this break might take. Are we talking weeks, months or even years? We honestly wouldn't know. But we do know that when we feel the urge to start writing Nailpin songs again, you'll be the first to know.

This being said, we'll be playing one final show on December 11th, in our hometown of Sint-Niklaas (more info on that soon), where we will give it our full 110% one last time and enjoy every minute of it.
And of course we’d love you all to share this with us, so do come and join us at that special gig and let's make this last Nailpin show of 2009 (and for some time to come) nothing less than memorable!!

On a footnote: we’ve also been nominated for the upcoming TMF Awards ’09 in the category ‘Best Rock’, thanks to you, which is unbelievably cool already, but if you want to give us one more going-away-present, then this is the time and place to do so by voting HERE, thank you all so much.

Our gift to you will be a previously unreleased track from ‘III’, a song that means a lot to us, which is why we re-recorded it this summer, especially for you.
